Cupping Therapy

Silicone or glass cups create gentle suction that lifts tight tissue instead of pressing into it — a hands-on tool for muscle tension that massage alone hasn’t fully released.

A Tool We Reach For When Tissue Needs a Different Kind of Pressure

Most hands-on bodywork compresses tissue — kneading, pressing, working muscle from the outside in. Cupping does the opposite: negative pressure draws skin and the fascia beneath it upward and away from deeper tissue, which can reach restrictions that direct pressure doesn’t always release.

At True Health & Performance, cupping is offered as a complementary technique within a massage or treatment session with Kyla — not a stand-alone protocol promising to fix any and every condition. It’s one more tool for the specific job of loosening stubborn, overworked tissue.

Cupping works best paired with the rest of your plan — massage, movement, and strength work — not as a stand-alone fix.

What It's For

What Cupping Can Help With

01

Eases Deep Muscle Tension

Lifting tissue instead of compressing it can reach tightness that’s resistant to standard massage pressure alone.

02

Increases Local Blood Flow

The suction draws fresh blood flow to the treated area, part of why the skin temporarily reddens or discolors afterward.

03

Loosens Restricted Fascia

The connective tissue wrapping your muscles can get stuck to the layers around it — cupping helps separate and mobilize it.

04

Pairs Well With Massage & PT

Used inside a broader massage or rehab session, it can help other hands-on and movement-based work go further.

How It's Done

What a Cupping Session Feels Like

Cupping is typically added into a massage session rather than booked entirely on its own — Kyla will decide, based on what your tissue needs, whether it’s a good fit for that visit.

Cups are placed on tight, restricted areas for several minutes at a time, either held still or moved slowly across the tissue. The suction should feel like a firm, pulling pressure — not sharp or painful.

A Few Minutes Per Area

Cups typically stay in place for 5–15 minutes, depending on the tissue and how it’s responding.

Gentle Suction, Not Deep Pain

You should feel pulling pressure, not sharp pain — speak up if a cup feels too intense.

Marks Are Temporary

The circular marks cupping can leave come from increased blood flow, not bruising from impact, and typically fade within days to about a week.

Common Questions

Cupping FAQs

Does cupping hurt?

Most people describe it as an intense pulling sensation rather than pain. Tell Kyla right away if anything feels too strong.

Will cupping leave marks?

Often, yes — circular discoloration where the cups sat, similar to what you may have seen on athletes. It’s temporary and usually fades within days to about a week.

Can I book cupping on its own?

Cupping is typically offered as part of a massage or treatment session. Give us a call and we’ll help you figure out what to book.

Is cupping right for everyone?

Not always — certain skin conditions, medications, or health situations can make it a poor fit. Kyla will check in before adding it to your session.

Ready to Try a Different Kind of Pressure?

If your muscles feel stuck no matter how much they’re worked, cupping might be the missing piece. Ask about adding it to your next massage or treatment session.
