What We Treat

Hip & Knee Pain Relief in Kearney

Knees that ache after walking the dog. Hips too stiff to get comfortable at night. Small, honest signs that something’s been quietly overloaded — we find out exactly what.

Hip & Knee Pain Builds Up Over Years, Not Days

The hip and knee take on tremendous repetitive stress every day — walking, bending, climbing stairs, even just sitting and standing back up. That adds up to accumulated microtrauma over years, which is why these joints are especially vulnerable to alignment faults and muscle imbalance most people never notice until it hurts.

Because the hip and knee work so closely together, pain in one often traces back to something happening in the other — or in the muscles connecting them. Treating the joint that hurts without finding what’s actually driving the load onto it just means the pain comes back.

Most hip and knee pain has a real mechanical cause — a muscle imbalance, an old injury that never fully healed, or a joint that’s changed over time. Finding which one is yours is what makes the plan actually work.

Root Causes

What Causes Hip & Knee Pain

01

Muscular Imbalance & Alignment

A short, tight hip flexor or weak glutes shift weight distribution across the pelvis and into the knee, gradually stressing structures and leading to bursitis or tendonitis. Even a leg-length difference as small as a centimeter changes joint loads.

02

Repetitive Impact

Running and jumping send multiples of body weight into the cartilage and ligaments of the hip and knee with every stride — inflaming those tissues if strength and impact tolerance don’t keep pace.

03

Arthritic Changes

Years of training or physically demanding work gradually thin the protective cartilage, sometimes with bone spur formation — locking up what used to be smooth, pain-free movement.

04

Trauma & Injury

Falls, twists, or a direct blow can damage ligaments or cartilage in a single moment. These need prompt, thorough rehab so the joint doesn’t stay unstable long after the initial pain fades.

How We Find the Real Cause

A Real Evaluation, Not a Five-Minute Guess

The hip and knee are so interconnected that pain in one is often driven by something happening in the other. Figuring out which structure is actually the problem takes watching how you move, not just pressing on where it hurts.

That clarity is what lets us build a plan aimed at your actual cause, instead of a generic protocol handed to every patient with hip or knee pain.

Movement & Gait Assessment

Watching how you walk, squat, and climb stairs reveals the compensations that often point straight at what’s actually feeding the pain.

Joint & Strength Testing

Manual testing of hip and knee mobility, joint play, and the strength of the muscles — glutes, quads, hip flexors — that support them.

Alignment & Leg-Length Review

Checking for leg-length differences and pelvic alignment issues that quietly overload one side more than the other, often for years before it hurts.

Your Plan

Restoring Mobility Through Personalized Treatment

Physical Therapy

Targeted exercise and manual therapy to correct the muscle imbalances feeding your pain, restore joint mobility, and rebuild the strength that keeps it from coming back.

Massage Therapy

Hands-on work with Kyla to release tight hip flexors, glutes, and IT band tension that often plays a bigger role than people expect.

A Plan for Real Life

Coaching on activity pacing, training load, and day-to-day movement habits so what you learn in the clinic holds up on your walks, at the gym, and around the house.

Common Questions

Hip & Knee Pain FAQs

Is it actually my hip, or my knee?

Hip problems can refer pain down into the knee, and knee compensations can quietly overload the hip — so where it hurts isn’t always where the problem actually is. Evaluation helps sort out true source from referred or compensatory pain.

Do I need an X-ray or MRI before starting therapy?

Not always. We start with a movement-based evaluation and factor in any imaging you already have. If something in your history or exam suggests you need imaging first, we’ll point you in the right direction before proceeding.

Can I keep exercising while this heals?

Usually, yes, with some modifications. Part of the evaluation is figuring out what you can keep doing safely and building a plan around your actual goals — not just telling you to stop moving.

How long until I feel a difference?

There’s no single timeline that fits every cause, but most patients notice real change within the first few weeks of a plan that actually targets what’s driving their symptoms.

Move Without Wincing Again

Hip and knee pain tends to get in the way of more than you’d expect — walks, workouts, even just standing up from a chair. Schedule an evaluation and let’s find out exactly what’s causing yours.
